Radon and Radiation

Radon

Radon is naturally occurring radioactive gas from the decay of uranium found in granite rock. Radon is tasteless and odourless and can seep into homes through the soil and rock underneath a house or commercial building. Linked to several types of cancer, radon is believed to be the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. If you are unsure if your home or business has radon, radiation testing may provide peace of mind.

ACM’s specialist can test for radon gas and advise you on precautions in the event a Radon leak is found. ACM focuses on testing homes, schools and businesses and offers solutions for structures where radon levels of 4 pCi/L or more are found.

Radiation

Radiation exposure is an ongoing a concern for healthcare, research, industrial, and other applications for radioactive sources.  Regular surveying is a critical step in developing exposure control plans, as well as determining action plans for remediation in emergency contamination situations.

ACM’s hygienist is experienced in the detection, decontamination, development of protocols and procedures, and reporting for radioactive materials in hospitals, laboratories, and other research facilities. In emergency situations when time is critical, ACM has a track record of commitment to optimum response time.  Our radiation technician is certified by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Hazardous Materials Incidents Response Operations.
